Summer is the busiest season in Bright, with visitors coming from all over to enjoy the clear crisp waters of the Ovens River, which cuts right through the valley. GETTING TO BRIGHT
Bright is 3 ½ hours drive from Melbourne, 7 hours from Sydney and 5 hours from Canberra. The Hume Highway and other great roads make this journey a dream. For a relaxed trip from Melbourne, take the Yarra Valley to High Country Touring Route.
Please note: During the snow season, chains are required by law when travelling to alpine resorts (ie. Mount Hotham and Falls Creek).
The nearest commercial airport is Albury Airport. Transport from Albury Airport to Bright by car is approximately 122kms (one hour and forty minutes).There are smaller airfields at Mount Hotham, Mount Beauty and Porepunkah.
TRAIN AND BUS
V/Line trains run between Melbourne and Albury multiple times per day. A bus connection meets the train in Wangaratta to and from Bright via Porepunkah, Myrtleford and Beechworth. For general enquiries please contact V/Line on 136 196.
